Market Open: Friday – Sunday 10 AM – 5:30 PM, except major holidays. Springfield Farm is a diversified pasture based natural livestock and produce farm (produce is transitional organic). Eggs, Chicken, Duck, Turkey, Goose, Beef, Pork, Lamb, Vegetables and Fruit are offered at the year-round market, as seasonally available. All products are raised on our farms or on local farms with whom we partner. Livestock are free-range and not given antibiotics (unless sick or injured), are not exposed to chemicals, and are never administered hormones – just natural. Produce is raised using organic methods with compost produce on the farm. A la carte produce is available as is a CSA. All products are available for delivery to commercial accounts. Visitors are welcome during operating hours and are invited to roam the farm at their leisure, after an orientation. Organized in 1982, the Takoma Park Farmers Market was the Washington area's first Sunday market and an early pioneer in the "producers-only" movement. When the market opened, in mid-summer 1983, it featured about a half dozen farmers and only partly filled the north side of Laurel Ave. Customers were few and sales were modest. Today almost two dozen producers line both sides of Laurel Ave., and the market attracts thousands of people weekly to shop at its burgeoning stands. Along the way, the market has greatly expanded the range and availability of the products it offers - from heirloom tomatoes and variegated sweet corn to free-range eggs and exotic bouquets.
